Can A Foreigner Buy Property In Costa Rica?

Yes they can! Foreigners have the same right as Nationals when it comes to purchasing real estate in Costa Rica. Properties can be held in your name or in a Costa Rica corporation. All titled property is registered in the National Registry.

How To Obtain A Costa Rican Permanent Residency:

  1. Purchasing $150,000 worth of property in Costa Rica or
  2. Deposit $60,000 in an approved Costa Rica bank or
  3. Monthly pension income in retirement of at least $1000. In Costa Rica this is called a “Pensionado.”

4. Still employed? A steady monthly income of $2500 qualifies for residency.  In Costa Rica this is called a “Crentista.”
