The Costa Rican society takes education very profoundly. In 1949, Costa Rica became the first country in the world to abolish their army. Rather than invest in weapons and heavy artillery,  Costa Rica chose to invest its resources in greater and better social development such as health and education. That said, the literacy rate in Costa Rica is 97.9 %.  Any child may join a school in Costa Rica within either the public or private system. BELOW is a list of San Jose Schools of Costa Rica in Rohrmoser, Escazu, and Santa Ana.

Private schools are abundant. Both public and private schools receive accreditation through the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica. While public schools are free, private school tuition varies depending on the institution. The most expensive institutions will have international accreditation and/or are members of the International Baccalaureate program.
